Can you do a Silk Press on relaxed hair? No, a Silk Press is performed on relaxer free hair to give the appearance of silked out, straight tresses free of Sodium Hydroxide and calcium hydroxide which are key ingredients in lye and no lye relaxers.

What is a Traditional Sew-In? A Traditional Sew-In is obtained by braiding down your natural tresses into cornrows leaving about 2-3 inches of hair out around the perimeter of hairline/parting area to have versatility in your styling and to cover wefts. Wefts are then sewn onto cornrows with nylon thread to secure in place. This method last up to 8 weeks.

How long does Microlinks and Tape-Ins last? Most Microlink installations last 3 months. Maintenance after 6 weeks. Tape-ins last 6-8 weeks depending on how fast your natural hair grows.

What is the difference between Double weft Microlink installation and Single weft Microlink installation?

Double weft is when microbeads are applied to natural hair with looping tool and tightened with microbead pliers. Hand tied wefts are then placed below and above row of beads and sewn on each side of bead to secure.

Single weft is when a single weft is added to the hair using the extensions and microbeads only. This method is best for women with fine to medium density hair. This method allows the option to add 1-2 bundles of hair to the head.

Is there a required hair length for Microlinks or Tape Ins? Yes, your hair should be at least 5 inches long, enough to cover the beads or wefts. If your hair is shorter than 5 inches, you will not have the same versatility as someone with longer hair, but you can still get Microlinks or tape-ins if desired.

My hair is natural, do I need to relax my hair before any microlink or tape-in service? No, you do not have to apply a relaxer to get microlinks or tape-ins. It is recommended that your natural hair be relaxer free with microlink extensions and Tape-In installations. However, discussing your natural hair care and maintenance routines are important before installation.

Do Microlinks strip the hair? No, Microlinks are a healthy hair extension method, but please be advised that you must be gentle at home. Also, make sure you are keeping your maintenance appointments to ensure that your natural hair is not being compromised. Microlink installations should only be applied and removed by a Luxury Microlink Specialist.

Can Microlinks be uncomfortable? No, if applied properly Microlinks should be tension free. However, the first 2-3 days you will feel their presence, but comfortably.

Can the same weft be taken out and reused for a new installation? Yes, you can reuse the hair depending on your stylist recommendations. Also, the condition of the hair will determine if you should reuse the hair or get new hair for the new installation. Proper maintenance is key and keeping the hair properly hydrated.

Can you color the hair extensions prior to installation? Yes, you can color match hair extensions to match the color of your hair prior to installation.

What’s the difference between microlinks and ITIPS? Both are (microlinks) however, Single weft is the microlink method in which the hair is pulled through a double weft extension with a pulling hook needle and microbead is pushed up on pulling hook needle to secure weft in place. With Double weft the microbeads are secured to natural hair with looping tool and tightened with extension plier. Extensions are then sewn with nylon thread onto hair located on each side of microbead. ITIPS are strand by strand microlinks. Each extension ITIP is placed inside a microbead that is attached to natural hair using a looping tool to apply. Once ITIP is inserted inside microbead an extension plier is used to close microbead securing natural hair and ITIP extension.

Can you swim or exercise with microlinks and tape-ins? Yes, you can swim and work out as normal. Keep in mind that chlorine is no good for your natural hair or extensions as it could dry it out and shorten the life of adhesive on tab of Tape-Ins. It is recommended that you wear a swim cap to protect your investment. Also, your natural hair will revert to its natural texture, so an extension match would be ideal for water activities. Also, please wait 48 hours after install before getting hair wet as you want to tape to cure.

What luxury extension method is best for maximum fullness? For maximum fullness, the ideal method is double weft microlinks.

Can I take out my own microlinks or tape-ins myself at home? No, schedule an appointment to have your luxury extension method removed my a luxury microlink specialist to ensure that your natural hair is not being compromised.

How can I make my natural hair blend with the hair extensions after the humidity, steam, workout etc. to avoid pressing your hair everyday? It’s recommended you keep your hair tied down when encountering those conditions to preserve your texture and avoid pressing your hair everyday.

Can I still get Microlink or tape-ins if my edges are compromised? Yes, you can! At your consultation the best method and style options will be offered.

Can I get my Tape-Ins wet right away? NO!!! You must wait 48 hours so that the tape may cure and set.

What is the difference between Raw and Virgin Hair? Raw hair is unaltered. Secrets Virgin hair has been steamed processed using water vapor to create consistent texture, with no chemicals being used. Raw hair generally comes in 3 textures of straight, wavy or curly (which is rare). Any other texture such as kinky straight or deep wave etc. has been steamed processed to achieve that specific texture and is considered Virgin hair. Both Raw and Virgin hair is cuticle aligned and considered the best hair on the market.

How much hair do I need to purchase? Secrets by Roxy Tape-Ins are sold in 100 gram increments which equals 40 tapes (1 bundle) 60-80 tapes are needed for full install depending on how much the head allows. Secrets by Roxy ITIPS are sold in 100-gram increments. 1gram per ITIP. For a natural looking install 100-150 grams and for increased volume 200 grams depending on the maximum the head allows. Single Weft Microlink requires 1.5-2 bundles and Double Weft Microlink requires 2-3 bundles. Traditional Sew-In requires at least 2-3 bundles when installing 14-18 inches in length. 20 and up in length requires 3-4 bundles.

Very Important: Do Not skip purchasing a bundle because you choose to purchase a closure.

Do you offer bundle deals? We do not offer bundle deals.

How many ounces per bundle? 3-3.5 ounces. Each bundle is Double Drawn so it is thick from weft to tip to maintain fullness yet lightweight feel once installed.

What do I do when I receive my extensions? Always wash your extensions prior to installation, with bundles wash while leaving zip ties in place. As a result of the wefting process, you may experience a few loose hairs during your initial co wash. It’s normal and will subside after the first few washes. 

How long does Secrets hair last?  12-24 months or more with following recommended proper maintenance.
Q. What is proper maintenance? A. Use a moisture rich conditioner. Should be thick and creamy. Shampoo only when removing build up and use hydrating sulfate free shampoo. Condition at least twice a week. Use a light serum to tame frizz and avoid any products containing alcohol. It dries your hair out.

1. Comb through hair with wide tooth comb from ends to root.
2. Saturate hair with water.
3. Add conditioner generously. Leave on for at least 20 minutes.
4. Rinse thoroughly with chilly water and let air dry or dry with white cotton t-shirt. 
5. Once a month apply deep hydrating mask.

Tip….. Always wash and condition in a downward motion to prevent tangling. 
Wavy/Curly texture fill spray bottle half full with water and add two ounces of conditioner. Section hair, spray on and brush with Denman brush ends to root. Scrunch curls to reform curl and let air dry or use diffuser.

*Please note that our curly hair texture shouldn’t be over manipulated as the hair can get frizzy. Do not manipulate hair while drying, as it will frizz and lose pattern. Let dry completely before manipulating. Our wavy/curly hair texture will straighten bone straight and revert to it’s original wavy/curly pattern again when washed/conditioned.

What is SEA hair? Its South Eastern Asian hair which consist of Cambodian, Burmese, LAO, Malaysian and Vietnamese hair. 

How do I maintain my hair while I sleep? Use a satin or silk scarf. It helps with preventing breakage and frizz. It also helps with moisture retention. You may also use flexi rods to retain curls or braid hair for heatless curls.

Will my curls or wave pattern return after coloring? Yes, your Secrets extensions will revert. It’s recommended you use a professional colorist when having your extensions colored to protect your investment. Also, keep in mind that over time virgin hair texture relaxes slightly that has been vapor steamed for different textures.

Can I heat style my extensions?  Yes, you can heat style your extensions not exceeding the 450-heat setting for more coarse hair as you may heat damage your extensions. Follow the same rules you would with your own natural hair. 

Do I need to seal the wefts of my Secrets bundles? It’s recommended if they’re cut to seal your wefts so that your bundles don’t shed or unravel.

Can I swim in salt or chlorine water while wearing Secrets extensions? Yes, you can swim in salt or chlorine water. However, it’s recommended first that you wear a swim cap or be sure to detangle/rinse/cleanse & condition immediately after you swim.

Why is curly hair considered high maintenance? The perfect blend of protein and moisture is what causes hair to curl. So, when hair is lacking moisture it will expand or swell with humidity. Curly hair is more porous than straight or wavy hair, which causes it to pull moisture from the air in part causing the hair to swell. Once this happens the cuticles become rough causing the hair to lose it curl pattern. It also leads to tangling and matting as the strands rub together. Therefore, it’s very important to follow a routine care regimen with curly hair to combat these issues.
